CISF Security Guard Found Dead in his Barracks at Headland Sada

Murgaon, March 3, 2024

In a heartbreaking incident, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable, identified as Mungulu Behra (32), deployed as a security guard at Mormugaon port, was discovered dead by suicide in his barracks at the CISF colony in Mormugao Sada. The exact reason for the tragic act remains elusive, leaving the community and authorities in shock.

According to the Mormugaon Police, the unfortunate event unfolded on March 2 around 9:30 pm when Mungulu Behra went  to sleep in his barracks for the night. On the morning of March 2, fellow CISF personnel attempted to reach out to him on his mobile phone, intending to engage in a game of Vollyball. Concerned when he failed to answer, his colleagues approached his room, only to discover the lifeless body of Mungulu, who had hanged himself.

Swiftly reporting the incident to his superiors, the CISF personnel contacted the local authorities, and the Mormugao Police were soon on the scene. The police have conducted a Panchnama of Mungulu Behra’s body and body sent to South Goa District Hospital  for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Mungulu Behra, a native of Odisha state, had been serving in the CISF and was well-regarded by his colleagues. The investigating officer, Police Sub-Inspector Stanley Gomes, expressed the perplexity surrounding the tragic event, stating,  at this point, we are unable to comprehend the reasons behind his suicide.

The incident serves as a somber reminder of the mental health challenges faced by individuals in high-stress professions, prompting calls for increased awareness and support within security forces and related organizations.
