Karnataka High Court Allows Probe Against Lakshya Sen & Family Over Age Fraud Allegations
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has permitted the continuation of the investigation into badminton star and Arjuna awardee Lakshya Sen, his elder brother Chirag Sen, their parents, and coach U. Vimal Kumar over allegations of age fabrication.
Dismissing their petitions seeking to quash the criminal proceedings, Justice M.G. Uma observed that there were prima facie materials to support the accusations, and thus, there was no reason to halt the investigation.
Key Developments in the Case:
✔️ The complaint alleges that age records were manipulated to gain an unfair advantage in junior tournaments.
✔️ The FIR was registered in December 2022 following a private complaint.
✔️ Documents obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act were submitted as evidence.
✔️ The High Court found sufficient grounds to proceed with the investigation.
This case raises serious questions about ethical practices in Indian sports and could have broader implications on regulations governing junior tournaments. What are your thoughts on this ongoing controversy? Should stricter age verification processes be implemented in Indian sports?
