PM Modi to Inaugurate Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Line and Vande Bharat Train to Kutch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major infrastructure projects in Gujarat— the second phase of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro rail project and a new Vande Bharat train service between Ahmedabad and Kutch. These projects aim to significantly boost urban connectivity and improve transportation for commuters in Gujarat.

Vande Bharat Service Between Ahmedabad and Bhuj

The much-anticipated Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Bharat Metro, a fully unreserved air-conditioned train, will offer an efficient travel option for passengers heading to Kutch. Western Railway (Ahmedabad division) Public Relations Officer Pradeep Sharma confirmed that passengers can purchase tickets from the counter shortly before the train’s departure.

This new service will stop at nine stations, covering a distance of 360 kilometers in just five hours and 45 minutes. With a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour, it will depart from Bhuj at 5:05 a.m. and reach Ahmedabad Junction by 10:50 a.m. The train is expected to cater to the growing travel demand between the two regions, offering passengers a faster, more comfortable alternative.

Metro Expansion Connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar

The second phase of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro line will cover a 21-kilometer stretch, enhancing connectivity between the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. This extension will link key locations, including Gujarat National Law University, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, GIFT City, and Gandhinagar’s Sector-1.

A total of eight new stations will be introduced under this phase, significantly improving urban mobility in the region. Once complete, the metro line will span 33.5 kilometers, providing faster and more economical transportation for commuters. The journey between APMC at Vasava in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Sector-1 will take just 65 minutes, with fares starting at ₹35—a significant savings compared to taxi or auto fares that exceed ₹350 and take over 90 minutes.

To mark the inauguration, PM Modi will take a metro ride from Gandhinagar to visit GIFT City, one of the state’s rapidly developing financial hubs.

Other Inaugurations and PMAY-G Scheme Launch

In addition to these transportation projects, the Prime Minister will also launch the first installment of financial assistance to nearly 10 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) across 14 states. This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing effort to provide affordable housing for rural citizens.

These new projects are expected to significantly enhance both transportation infrastructure and housing development in Gujarat and other states, aligning with the government’s vision for comprehensive urban and rural development.
