Where is the respect for the values that St. Francis Xavier stands for?” he questioned.

The GFP leader accused the state government of being indifferent to the communal harmony of Goa and of using such divisive tactics to divert public attention from more pressing issues. “This government has made a habit of using distractions whenever they find themselves cornered by corruption allegations, environmental degradation, or infrastructure collapse. And now, they are stooping as low as to let an attack on Goencho Saib pass without consequence,” he said.

सिंधुदुर्ग जिल्हा स्वच्छतेच्या बाबतीत अग्रेसर जिल्हा म्हणून सर्वपरिचित आहे. जिल्ह्यातील नागरिकांना स्वच्छतेचे महत्व पटलेले असल्याने जिल्ह्यात सगळीकडे स्वच्छता पाहायला मिळते. ‘स्वभाव स्वच्छता-संस्कार स्वच्छता’ ही यावर्षीची थीम आहे. विद्यार्थ्यांनी स्वत:मध्ये स्वच्छतेचा संस्कार रुजवणे आवश्यक असून निरोगी आरोग्यासाठी स्वच्छता महत्वाची असल्याचे जिल्हाधिकारी अनिल पाटील यांनी सांगितले.
राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी जयंतीचे औचित्य साधून’ स्वच्छ भारत दिवस साजरा’ करावयाचा आहे. त्या अनुषंगाने आज कसाल हायस्कुल येथे स्वच्छता कार्यक्रमांचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते. त्यावेळी जिल्हाधिकारी बोलत होते. यावेळी मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी मकरंद देशमुख, उप मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी विनायक ठाकूर, ज्येष्ठ पत्रकार गणेश जेठे, लवु महाडेश्वर, कसाल ग्रामपंचायतीचे सरपंच श्री परब , कसाल हायस्कुलचे पदाधिकारी, गांवकरी तसेच विद्यार्थी उपस्थित होते.
जिल्हाधिकारी म्हणाले, विद्यार्थी दशेतच मनावर संस्कार रुजत असतात. त्यामुळे विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये स्वच्छतेबाबत जागरुकता निर्माण करावी जेणेकरुन विद्यार्थी घरी जाऊन पालकांना स्वच्छतेचे महत्व सांगतील. सर्वांनी स्वत: कचरा करणार नाही ही शपथ घ्यावी. शिवाय सर्वांनी स्वच्छतेच्या बाबतीत RRR म्हणजेच Reduce, Reuse आणि Recycle हा नियम पाळावा म्हणजे आपल्या परिसरात कचरा कमीत कमी होईल. घरात, परिसरात, गल्लीत तसेच आपल्या गावात होणाऱ्या कचऱ्याची सर्वांनी योग्य विल्हेवाट लावावी. स्वच्छतेशिवाय आपले आरोग्य चांगले राहणार नाही असेही ते म्हणाले.
श्री देशमुख म्हणाले स्वच्छता हा संस्कार असल्याने तो आपल्या अंगी असणे आवश्यक आहे. स्वच्छतेची सुरूवात स्वत:पासून करावी. जेवढी भौतिक स्वच्छता महत्वाची आहे तेवढीच मानसिक स्वच्छता देखील महत्वाची आहे. आजच्या सोशल मिडियाच्या विश्वात अनेकांची मने अस्वच्छ झाली असल्याने सर्वांनी मानसिक अस्वच्छता दूर करणे देखील तेवढेच आवश्यक असल्याचे ते म्हणाले.
श्री जेठे यांनी स्वच्छतेविषयी आपले अनुभव कथन केले. ते म्हणाले मी रोज सकाळी पायी फिरताना एक पिशवी घेऊन फिरत असे आणि रस्त्यात दिसणारा कचरा त्या पिशवीत वेचत असे. सुरूवातीला लोकांनी माझ्या कृती कडे दुर्लक्ष केले परंतु काही दिवसांनी माझ्या स्वच्छता मोहिमेत नागरिक मोठ्या संख्येने सहभागी झाले आणि आम्ही स्वच्छता चळवळ उभी करु शकलो. त्यामुळे प्रत्येक चळवळ यशस्वी करण्यासाठी लोकसहभाग तितकाच महत्वाचा असल्याचेही ते म्हणाले.
कार्यक्रमाच्या सुरूवातीला श्री ठाकुर यांनी प्रास्ताविक केले. स्वच्छता पंधरवड्यात राबविण्यात आलेल्या विविध उपक्रमांची त्यांनी माहिती दिली. स्वच्छतेचा संदेश सर्वांपर्यंत पोहचणे आवश्यक आहे. ही मोहिम फक्त पंधरवड्यापुरती मर्यादित न राहता रोजच साजरी होणे आवश्यक आहे. यासाठी आपण स्वच्छता अंगिकारणे आवश्यक आहे असे ते म्हणाले.
यावेळी उपस्थितांना स्वच्छतेची शपथ देण्यात आली. कसाल इंग्लिश स्कुलच्या विद्यार्थ्यांनी स्वच्छतेचे महत्व नृत्यातून सादर केले. यावेळी ‘स्वच्छ माझे आंगण’ या स्पर्धेतील विजेत्यांचा सत्कार करण्यात आला. या स्पर्धेत प्रथम पारितोषिक शुभांगी परब, व्दितीय तन्वी परब तर तृतीय पारितोषिक रुपेश नादीवडेकर यांना मिळाले. तसेच भाषणाव्दारे स्वच्छतेचे महत्व सांगणाऱ्या ध्रुव मालवणकर, पृथा पेडणेकर, सोनम प्रजापती आणि भार्गवी सुपल यांचा देखील यावेळी सत्कार करण्यात आला.
कार्यक्रमानंतर कसाल येथील युनियन बँक ते बस स्थानक अशी रॅली काढून नागरिकांमध्ये स्वच्छतेविषयी जनजागृती करण्यात आली. यावेळी ग्रामपंचायतीने दिलेल्या डस्ट बीनचे लोकार्पण देखील करण्यात आले.

महाराष्ट्रात ८ नवीन वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयांना मान्यता, सरकारच्या पाठपुराव्यामुळे यश

राज्य सरकारच्या सततच्या पाठपुराव्यामुळे महाराष्ट्रातील ८ नवीन वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयांना अखेर मान्यता मिळाली आहे. या महाविद्यालयांच्या स्थापनेसाठी राज्याच्या वैद्यकीय शिक्षण मंत्री हसन मुश्रिफ यांच्या कार्यकाळात मोठा पुढाकार घेण्यात आला. या नवीन महाविद्यालयांमुळे ८०० विद्यार्थ्यांना MBBS अभ्यासक्रमासाठी प्रवेशाची संधी मिळणार आहे.

या महाविद्यालयांची स्थापना मुंबई, नाशिक, गडचिरोली, अमरावती, वाशीम, जालना, बुलढाणा, अंबरनाथ, भंडारा आणि हिंगोली या ठिकाणी करण्यात येणार आहे. हसन मुश्रिफ यांच्या मंत्रीपदाच्या काळात या १० सरकारी वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयांना मंजुरी मिळाल्यामुळे राज्यातील आरोग्य सेवा अधिक सक्षम होण्याची शक्यता आहे.

राज्य सरकारची धोरणं प्रत्येक जिल्ह्यात वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय स्थापन करण्याची आहे, ज्यामुळे प्रत्येक जिल्ह्यातील विद्यार्थ्यांना वैद्यकीय शिक्षणाची सुवर्णसंधी उपलब्ध होईल. सध्या राज्यात एकूण ३५ सरकारी वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयं असून, दरवर्षी ४८५० विद्यार्थ्यांना सरकारी महाविद्यालयांतून प्रवेश मिळणार आहे.
