Suzlon Secures 400 MW Wind Energy Order from JSP Green Wind, Paving Way for Sustainable Steel Production

Suzlon Group, India’s leading wind energy company, has secured a major 400 MW order from JSP Green Wind 1 Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Jindal Renewables Power Private Limited. This landmark deal, the largest captive and industrial (C&I) win in the sector, further strengthens Suzlon’s position as a market leader in India’s renewable energy industry.

As part of the agreement, Suzlon will supply 127 cutting-edge wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. These turbines will be installed in the Koppal region of Karnataka, one of India’s emerging renewable energy hubs. The energy produced from this project will be used for captive consumption in steel plants located in Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

This initiative is a significant step toward enhancing operational sustainability within India’s steel industry, aligning with the country’s broader green energy objectives. By harnessing wind energy, the steel plants will reduce their carbon footprint, contributing to a cleaner production process and reducing reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

The collaboration between Suzlon and JSP Green Wind marks a new chapter in sustainable steel production, as Jindal Renewables works toward achieving its ambitious goal of net-zero emissions by 2047. This partnership not only boosts Suzlon’s renewable portfolio but also underscores the critical role of clean energy in advancing India’s industrial sectors toward a more sustainable future.

Construction of Footpath and Side Drain Commences from Court Junction to Duler Football Ground, Mapusa

Mapusa, 8th October 2024: In a significant move to improve local infrastructure, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker and MLA of Mapusa, Shri Joshua De Souza, officially commenced the construction of a footpath and side drain from Court Junction (Clock Tower) to Duler Football Ground along the right-hand side (RHS) of the road in the Mapusa constituency.

The project, which aims to ensure pedestrian safety and enhance the walking experience for both locals and visitors, will also include the installation of a side drain to improve water management. This will play a crucial role in preventing waterlogging, especially during Goa’s monsoon season, ensuring smooth traffic flow and safeguarding infrastructure.

The commencement ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the Chairperson of the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC), Dr. Nutan Bicholkar, Vice Chairperson Sushant Harmalkar, and Councillors Barbara Carrasco, Sainath Raul, Ashirwad Khorjuvekar, Chandrashekhar Benkar, and Shubhangi Vaigankar. MMC officials, including ME II Prashant Narvekar and Claude Alvares, along with Ward members, were also present for the event.

During the ceremony, Shri Joshua De Souza emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in the area and the need to ensure the safety of pedestrians and commuters. He expressed his commitment to continuing work on improving the constituency’s overall infrastructure.

The footpath construction is expected to greatly benefit the residents and the football enthusiasts who frequently visit the Duler Football Ground. The side drain, a key component of the project, will help in effectively channeling rainwater, further reducing the risk of flooding in the area.

The project from Court Junction to the Taxi Stand is a part of the Mapusa constituency’s broader development plan, aligning with the Goa government’s vision to modernize infrastructure and improve the quality of life for its citizens.

The community expressed gratitude for the initiative, which promises to address long-standing concerns about pedestrian safety and flooding in the area.

Rahul Gandhi explores Dalit kitchen & Understood the cuisine of the Dalit Community

Understanding Dalit Kitchen: A Journey Through Forgotten Flavors

Rahul Gandhi visits Dalit family as even today, very few people truly understand the cuisine of the Dalit community. As Shahu Patole Ji rightly said, “Dalit kya khate hain, koi nahin janata” (Nobody knows what Dalits eat). His statement reflects a larger societal disconnect—an ignorance about the cultural heritage of Dalit food, which is deeply rooted in history and survival.

With curiosity sparked by Patole Ji’s words, Rahul Gandhi spent an afternoon with Ajay Tukaram Sande Ji and Anjana Tukaram Sande Ji in their home in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. “They warmly invited me to witness and participate in their kitchen, offering a rare glimpse into a tradition often overlooked. Together, we prepared Chane ke Saag ki Sabzi (gram greens) and Brinjal with Tuvar Dal, simple yet hearty dishes that are staples in their daily lives. The flavors were rich, earthy, and nourishing—reflecting the resourcefulness of a community that has long had to make do with what little they had”.

“As we cooked, the conversation turned to caste and discrimination—issues that remain central to the Dalit experience in India. Ajay and Anjana spoke of the isolation they have faced, not just socially but also culturally. Dalit cuisine, despite being a fundamental part of India’s food history, remains largely undocumented and misunderstood. The food they eat is often associated with poverty and exclusion, yet it holds within it a story of resilience, innovation, and identity” – Rahul Gandhi said.

“People don’t realize that Dalit food is not just about scarcity,” Ajay explained. “It’s about community, sharing, and survival.” Patole Ji has often emphasized the importance of documenting Dalit food culture, not just as a culinary curiosity but as a means to preserve a history that is at risk of being forgotten.

“The conversation also touched on the broader struggles of the Bahujan community. Though the Constitution of India grants rights and protections to Bahujans, the road to true inclusiveness remains long” – Rahul Gandhu.

“We will protect that Constitution,” Ajay said with conviction, “but real equality will only be possible when every Indian strives to embrace the spirit of brotherhood.”

“The afternoon I spent with the Sande family wasn’t just about food; it was a reminder of the deeper work that still needs to be done to bridge the gaps between communities. Understanding and respecting Dalit cuisine is one small step toward achieving the inclusiveness that our society so desperately needs” – Rahul Gandhi.

Auto Sales in India Drop 9.26% in September: FADA Report

India’s automobile industry experienced a significant slowdown in September 2024, as overall vehicle sales dropped by 9.26% compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

The two-wheeler segment, which is a major driver of mobility in India, witnessed a steep decline of 8.51% in sales. Similarly, personal vehicle sales saw an even sharper contraction, falling by 18.81%. Commercial vehicle sales, essential for the transport of goods and economic activities, also registered a drop of 10.45%.

However, not all categories fared poorly. The report highlighted that sales in the three-wheeler and tractor segments experienced growth. Three-wheeler sales rose slightly by 0.66%, while tractor sales surged by a notable 14.69%, indicating strong demand in the agricultural sector despite the overall market slowdown.

Experts attribute the decline in auto sales to several factors, including high inflation, rising interest rates, and an overall cautious consumer sentiment. However, the growth in tractor sales reflects the resilience of the rural economy, which has benefited from favorable monsoon conditions and government support for agriculture.

As the Indian auto industry continues to navigate through these challenges, manufacturers and dealers are hopeful that upcoming festive season offers and the introduction of new models will provide a much-needed boost to sales.

Sensex and Nifty Update: Bears Take Control as Nifty Slumps for Sixth Consecutive Session

The Indian stock markets continued to face selling pressure as the benchmark Nifty index extended its losing streak to the sixth consecutive session. On Monday, the Nifty plummeted below the crucial 50-day Exponential Moving Average (DEMA) on the daily chart, signaling a bearish trend. The Sensex also showed weakness, closing the day in the red, as investor sentiment remained cautious amid global and domestic uncertainties.

Sector Performance

Despite the broader market downturn, the pharma sector displayed resilience. While the pharma index closed in the red, several stocks within the sector outperformed, bucking the trend. This highlights the defensive nature of the pharmaceutical sector, which tends to remain stable during periods of market volatility. Market experts anticipate stock-specific action to persist within this sector, offering opportunities for investors to capitalize on individual performers.

Global Market Impact

While Indian markets remained under pressure, Asian markets painted a more optimistic picture. Major indices across Asia traded with a positive bias, posting significant gains in the day’s session. The upbeat sentiment was driven by signs of economic recovery in key Asian economies, along with positive cues from global markets. However, despite the strong performance in Asia, the Indian markets continued to struggle due to domestic factors and selling by foreign institutional investors (FIIs).

As the Nifty and Sensex remain under bearish influence, market participants will keep a close eye on global cues and sectoral performances to identify potential recovery signals. For now, the bulls appear to have taken a back seat as uncertainty grips the Indian markets.

Union Minister Amit Shah Chairs Crucial Meeting with CMs of Naxal-Affected States, Sets 2026 Deadline to Eradicate Naxalism

New Delhi, 7th October 2024 — Union Home Minister Amit Shah today chaired a high-level review meeting with the Chief Ministers of Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected states in New Delhi. The meeting focused on assessing the progress made in tackling Naxalism and strengthening coordination between the Centre and the states to completely eradicate the menace by 2026.

During the meeting, Shah called for a united effort from all the Naxal-affected states to work closely with the Central government to ensure the end of Naxalism by March 31, 2026. “The end of Naxalism is within reach if we stand together. We need coordinated efforts across borders to ensure that these anti-national forces are eliminated,” Shah stated.

He further appealed to the youth involved in Naxal activities to give up arms and join the mainstream. “I urge all the youth associated with Naxalism to abandon the path of violence and embrace the future of peace and progress. There is a place for you in the national mainstream, and we are ready to support your rehabilitation,” said the Home Minister.

The meeting highlighted the successes in several states, where government interventions in infrastructure, development, and security have significantly weakened the Naxal movement. However, Shah emphasized the need to sustain and accelerate these efforts to ensure that all regions are free from the clutches of extremism.

The Chief Ministers expressed their commitment to intensifying anti-Naxal operations and promised enhanced collaboration with the Centre in intelligence sharing, security forces deployment, and development projects aimed at uplifting the affected regions.

The Home Minister reaffirmed the Centre’s support, saying, “The government will provide all necessary resources—whether manpower, technology, or financial aid—to ensure that Naxalism is uprooted.”

With a clear deadline set, this meeting marks a crucial step in India’s efforts to tackle LWE and restore peace and progress in affected regions.
