I honour the support Given to the BJP by the people of South Goa

Mormugao Constituency MLA Sankalp Amonkar expressed his gratitude towards the voters while speaking to reporters “We honor the support given to the BJP by the people of South Goa.  BJP has succeeded in getting 2 lakhs from South. Even though the BJP candidate Mrs. Pallavi Dhempo’s campaign  worked very well during  the Loksabha Election she did not get the required number of votes.  Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said that I accept the moral responsibility. It is also necessary to verify where we fell short.  Some loyal BJP workers have worked selflessly from Mormugao constituency.   In Lok Sabha elections, in Mormugao Constituency is where BJP used to get a large majority of votes, this time Congress got a majority which is surprising  for me & party itself, MLA Amonkar said that he will discuss this with senior BJP leaders.
BJP Lok Sabha candidate Mrs. Pallavi Dhempo got good response from voters of  Mormugao taluka.  But he could not get the votes she wanted. Similarly, MLA Sankalp Amonkar had worked hard to get the BJP candidates from Murgaon a big margin of votes.  said.  Murgaon BJP workers South Goa candidate Mrs.  Pallavi Dempo We worked day and night to make her  win. It is necessary to verify where we fell short. Also, BJP had a large majority of votes in some booths in Murgaon. But these votes have gone  to Congress candidate.  MLA Amonkar clarified that I am not holding anyone responsible for this.  However, MLA Sankalp Amonkar said that I will inform BJP party leaders about this.

Garbage Pile-Up on Vasco Varunapuri-Shantinagar National Highway

Garbage pile has formed on Vasco Varunapuri – Shantinagar National Highway. Murgaon Municipality has completely failed to control the waste. Due to the accumulation of garbage on the side of the national highway, the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out due to the increasing number of stray animals here. For this, the concerned department is appealing to the drivers and pedestrians to take the initiative to remove the garbage from here.

Although Murgaon Municipality is of ‘A’ status in the state, it is understood from the accumulated waste in many places that they are not trying to solve the waste problem. There are 25 wards coming under Murgaon Municipality and every day garbage is collected from house to house in each ward. But in some wards it is seen that house owners are putting the household waste in zero waste bins instead of giving it to door to door waste collectors. Due to this, a large amount of waste is found in the zero waste bins every day. Also, since the zero waste bins collect wet and dry waste, the municipal employees dispose of it. Very difficult to apply.

The Murgaon Municipality has set up a zero garbage box on the side of the Vasco Varunapuri-Shantinagar National Highway, and the locals have said that Murgaon Municipality is throwing excessive waste outside the area. Due to the dumping of garbage on the national highway, bad smell has spread everywhere. Due to this, pedestrians have to leave the footpath and walk on the highway. Also, there is a possibility of accidents due to the large number of stray animals coming near the accumulated garbage. For this, the Murgaon Municipality should quickly remove the garbage stored outside the zero garbage box on the side of the Varunapuri Shantinagar highway. The demand has been made by local residents.

Indian Navy, a full-fledged “Blue Water Force with Green Footprint”

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY – 2024

Today on the eve of World Environment day Indian Navy across India celebrated, with a mission
Indian Navy, a full-fleged “Blue Water Force with Green Footprint”

Indian Navy, as an environmentally responsible force, has taken various strides to accelerate the paradigm shift towards renewable energy and reduce its environmental footprint by adopting sustainable lifestyle practices. Green initiatives have always been one of the key focus areas of the Indian Navy. With a shift in our country’s energy policy to low carbon strategy by means of renewable sources of energy, it has been the endeavour to encourage all Naval units and establishments to undertake multifarious activities signaling the progressive transformation towards a ‘Cleaner and Greener’ environment.

The theme for World Environment Day 2024 focuses on solutions to tackle global issues such as Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience. To extend this theme in the maritime domain, efforts on tree plantation, mangrove preservation (as a part of MISHTI Programme of 2023), carbon footprint reduction, plastic disposal and retrieval from coastal areas, new initiatives on mangrove plantation, seaweed cultivation, coral reef surveys have all been facilitated with close interaction with all central and state government bodies and a large number of Government nominated and environmentally conscious firms.

IN had signed an MoU with HCL Foundation and The Habitats Trust for collaborative efforts on rejuvenation of coastal ecosystems and conservation of endangered native marine species in Mar 23 and several events have been coordinated. These include the following: –

  1. Biodiversity surveys in Karwar.
  2. Creation of Bio-diversity park and trails in the ecological sensitive areas.
  3. Ecological restoration & terrain mapping of Anjediva Island for phased restoration, in progress.
  4. Coral Restoration plan at Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands collaboration in association with Research & Environmental Education Foundation (REEF), a local NGO.
  5. A proposal on the installation of a floating trash barrier in collaboration with the firm M/s Alpha MERS at various locations in Visakhapatnam and Kochi.
  6. A visit to INS Chilka to undertake a preliminary biodiversity survey has been concluded.

As personnel in uniform, the resolve to work together towards Environment consciousness has been engrained in our core and as a team, Indian Navy has pledged to continue our unwavering zeal and march in that direction.

With underlying significance of adopting greener lifestyles, IN has prioritized adoption of cleaner and greener practices both at organizational and individual level in line with Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative of the GoI. Actions taken include energy savings through use of occupancy sensors and automatic controller, augmentation of renewables through solar projects, reduced vehicular pollution through emphasis on e-vehicles, observing no-vehicle day within Naval establishments, water conservation measures and reduction in carbon footprint and adherence to GRIHA III norms for new construction buildings.

In keeping with the vision of ‘Clean India Campaign’IN has initiated a nationwide campaign under the program Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan (PSA). The campaign also focuses towards cleaning the sea shores/ beaches of plastic and other waste and increasing the awareness about importance of keeping them clean, serene and pristine. Local naval units and establishments dedicate one day, each month, towards coastal cleanup including rivers/ lakes and have liaised with local municipal bodies, NGOs, NHAI and Regional Directors of NCC towards responsible disposal/ recycling of waste material.

As a maiden initiative, indigenous make and patented retrofit device developed by M/s Chakr Innovations for reducing diesel engine emissions was installed on shore-based Diesel Generator for long term trials. Additionally, state-of-the-art Hydrogen aspiration technology, is also being progressed through two firms iHATs and AHODs Pilot Projects onboard Ships and Shore establishments respectively. The primary objective of this technology is to reduce the carbon emissions and the results have been highly encouraging. There are also future plans to have hydrogen ferry crafts inducted as a start point towards harnessing this environmentally clean technology.

In line with Govt of India’s initiative of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM), extensive efforts have been made to enhance the share of solar energy within Navy. IN establishments have installed solar powered appliances such as solar water heaters, solar street lighting, solar cookers etc.

Community participation has played a great role in successful implementation of initiatives. Institution of green measures in IN have been possible through a self-conscious Naval community, well-aware of the necessity of environment remediation and energy conservation. To foster a sense of responsibility towards environment, various mass participation events such as mass Shramdan, coastal cleanup drives, tree plantation drives, walkathons etc. are organized regularly.

Several efforts have been steered to engage firms to be a part of the Ocean cleanup activities. This activity is likely to fructify in the coming years. Meanwhile, self-reliant methods have been made to undertake sea water Plastic waste cleanup through innovative yet simple methods.

Overall, Navy is furthering its march towards pursuance of the energy and environment goals of our country. It is now a full-fledged “Blue Water Force with Green Footprint” and is cognizant of the role that it has to play for creating a better environment for our future generations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Meets President  Tender his resignation for New Government Formation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Resigns Paves the Way for New Government Formation

In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the President today to formally tender his resignation, along with that of the Union Council of Ministers. This move, marking a pivotal moment in Indian politics, was anticipated following the conclusion of the recent general elections. The President accepted the resignation and has requested that Prime Minister Modi and his Council of Ministers continue to function in a caretaker capacity until the formation of the new government.

The resignation of Prime Minister Modi and his Cabinet is a procedural formality that follows the end of the term of the current government and the election of a new Lok Sabha. This process ensures a smooth and orderly transition of power, maintaining the continuity of governance until a new administration is in place.

Prime Minister Modi, who has led the country since 2014, has overseen numerous significant reforms and initiatives during his tenure. His leadership has been marked by efforts to boost the economy, improve infrastructure, enhance national security, and promote digital governance. As the country awaits the results of the general elections, the resignation signals the commencement of the next phase of Indian democracy.

The Role of the Caretaker Government

With the President’s acceptance of the resignation, Modi and his ministers will function as a caretaker government. This role involves continuing day-to-day administration and maintaining stability until the new government is sworn in. The caretaker government refrains from making major policy decisions or enacting new laws, focusing instead on routine operations to ensure that there is no governance vacuum during the transition period.

 Reflections on Modi’s Tenure

Prime Minister Modi’s tenure has been transformative for India in many ways. His government launched several key initiatives such as ‘Make in India’, aimed at boosting manufacturing; ‘Digital India’, to improve online infrastructure and increase internet connectivity; and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, a campaign to clean the streets, roads, and infrastructure of the country. Additionally, the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was a significant reform aimed at creating a unified national market.

Internationally, Modi’s diplomacy has been notable for strengthening India’s relations with major powers, enhancing the country’s global stature. His government also placed a strong emphasis on national security, with significant investments in defense and strategic infrastructure.

However, his tenure has not been without controversy. Critics have pointed to challenges such as rising unemployment, agrarian distress, and contentious policies like the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the abrogation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. These issues have sparked significant debate and protest, reflecting the diverse and often polarized opinions about his leadership.

 Looking Ahead

As the nation stands on the brink of potentially another term under Prime Minister Modi or a shift to a new leadership, the focus is on the election results and the subsequent government formation. The new government, regardless of its composition, will inherit both the achievements and the challenges of the outgoing administration. It will need to address ongoing issues such as economic recovery post-pandemic, job creation, and social harmony, while also setting its own vision and agenda for the country’s future.

The resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers marks a crucial juncture in India’s democratic process. As they continue to serve in a caretaker capacity, the country waits with bated breath for the formation of the new government, which will steer the nation through the next phase of its journey. The transition underscores the robustness of Indian democracy and its institutions, capable of managing such significant changes smoothly and efficiently.

This period of transition offers a moment for reflection on the past and anticipation for the future. As the election results unfold and the new government is formed, the focus will inevitably shift to the policies and direction that will shape India’s path in the coming years.

International Sex Trafficking Racket Busted by Mandrem Police

International Sex Trafficking Racket Busted by Mandrem Police with Assistance from ARZ NGO

An international sex trafficking ring operating between Uganda and India has been dismantled due to the collaborative efforts of the Mandrem Police, led by SDPO Jivba Dalvi, and the ARZ NGO.

According to SP North Shri Akshat Kaushal, economically disadvantaged young single mothers from Uganda were lured with false promises of employment in restaurants and cafes in Goa. Upon their arrival in India, the traffickers seized their passports and visas, threatening the women with violence and forcing them into prostitution under the burden of significant debt.

This illicit operation, orchestrated by a close-knit group involving the trafficker Jojo Nakintu, predominantly leveraged escort websites to solicit clients and also operated offline, with traffickers standing on the beaches and roads of Arambol.

The breakthrough came when one of the victims managed to contact her embassy. With the embassy’s assistance and support, the Goa police were able to locate the victims. The Mandrem Police Inspector and ARZ NGO then conducted a challenging search operation, during which they rescued two Ugandan victims and arrested Jojo Nakintu.

The arrested individual, identified as Ms. Jojo Nakintu, 31, a Ugandan national, has been charged under sections 370 of the IPC and sections 4, 5, and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The rescued women have been placed in a protective home in Merces.

Further investigation is underway, led by PI Mandrem PS Sheriff Jaques, under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi and SP North Akshat Kaushal IPS. This successful operation highlights the critical role of international collaboration and community support in combating human trafficking.
